Somaly Mam, Cam­bo­dia woman,  is an anti-slavery acti­vist and sur­vi­vor fighting for vic­tims all over the world.  I noti­ced her tweet tonight after Spen­ser Brodsky’s tweet about my bir­th­day cam­paign con­nec­ted me to her.  Human Traf­fic­king is a huge issue around the world, espe­cially in Cam­bo­dia.   Leng Sopha­rath, the young woman our family has spon­so­red for col­lege in Cam­bo­dia through the Sha­ring Foun­da­tion, could have ended up in a very dif­fe­rent place, but instead was able to go to col­lege. (She gra­dua­tes this year!)

The Sha­ring Foun­da­tion works more on the pre­ven­tion side of this pro­blem, in the form of voca­tio­nal trai­ning, edu­ca­tio­nal pro­grams from pre­school to col­lege, and the orpha­nage.  You can learn more about the pro­grams in the video below crea­ted by Ryanne Hod­son and Jay Ded­man when they tra­ve­led with Chri­stina Arnold, Foun­der of Pro­ject Hope, which focu­ses on anti-trafficking in Sou­theast Asia. And, of course, January 11th is my bir­th­day and I’m doing what I love hel­ping Cam­bo­dian young­sters by rai­sing money for the Sha­ring Foun­da­tion.
